We have stopped the process of recruiting foreign athletes to the team.
Mammad Abdullayev, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national taekwondo team, said this in an interview with
"Report".
He spoke about the appointment of coaches to the U-21 and youth national teams:
"Elnur Amanov was appointed head coach and Zahid Mammadov as senior coach of the national team consisting of taekwondo players under 21 years old. As you know, part of the U-21 team consists of young people, and part consists of adults. For this reason, the management decided that Elnur Amanov, who works as a senior coach in the adult team, should lead the U-21. The Republic Championship of taekwondo players under 21 years old will be held in March. After this competition, both the main team and the youth team will prepare for the upcoming international competitions. We believe that thanks to the efforts of Sabuhi Zulfugarov and others, who were appointed head coach of the youth national team, we will do better work."
The specialist said that the Azerbaijani adult taekwondo team, which is currently holding training camps in Baku, is preparing for the upcoming international competitions:
"We mainly focus on physical training. After the first 3 days, the team members will rest a little and start tactical and technical training."
M.Abdullayev said that promising taekwondo players are being trained in teams of lower age groups:
"Currently, there are promising taekwondo players in teams of lower age groups. We are also thinking of gradually involving them in the main national team. We have stopped the process of recruiting foreign athletes to the team. We are trying to achieve success with local taekwondo players."
