The former president of the Kuban Mountaineering Federation has died in the mountains.
Lent.az, citing Russian media, reports that the former president of the Krasnodar Territory Mountaineering Federation died as a result of a rockfall in Kabardino-Balkaria.
According to reports, on August 25, a group of climbers consisting of two men and one woman set out to climb Mount Jingi-Tau. On August 27, they were hit by falling rocks. Alexander Rastorguev, who headed the federation and climbed more than 200 peaks, died at the scene.
Another climber, Ekaterina Fedorova, was hospitalized with injuries of varying degrees. The third participant was also evacuated from the area by helicopter.
