The initial court investigation into the criminal case of Tofiq Khanaliyev, the former chairman of the "Gənclik" Volunteer Student Sports Society Public Union, has been completed.
İdman.Biz, referring to "Unikal", reports that the verdict was announced at the last trial held in the Baku Serious Crimes Court under the chairmanship of Judge Mahira Karimova.
T. Khanaliyev was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months of imprisonment. Article 70 of the Criminal Code was applied to him. Khanaliyev's sentence was replaced with a 2-year suspended sentence.
It should be noted that Tofiq Khanaliyev is accused of embezzling more than 70,000 manats allocated to the mentioned society, whose main purpose is to support the development of mass physical education and sports among students and youth. According to the indictment, he is accused of spending the funds allocated for sports events and competitions for his personal gain.
T. Khanaliyev was involved in the investigation by the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General and was charged under Article 179.3.2 (embezzlement - committed causing damage in large amount) of the Criminal Code.
40,000 manats of the damage caused in the criminal case was paid during the preliminary investigation.
A preventive measure of placing the former chairman under police supervision was chosen.
