Unknown criminals broke into the house of Jackson Rodriguez, a defender of the Ecuadorian club "Emelec." Unable to find the footballer himself, they took his wife and five-year-old son.
Lent.az reports with reference to foreign media that, according to the club's press service, Rodriguez hid from the criminals because they were specifically looking for him. Jackson hid under his bed when he heard the apartment door being broken down.
Unable to find the footballer, the attackers kidnapped his relatives, and also took valuables and money.
The incident occurred in a house located in the north of Guayaquil, where a state of emergency was declared against the backdrop of increased activity of criminal groups.
Currently, authorities are trying to determine the whereabouts of the victims and those responsible.
26-year-old Jackson Rodriguez was born in Portugal and plays for the Luxembourg national team. He became the first footballer from this country to play in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
