Chess has developed in Azerbaijan.
According to "Report", this was stated by the President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Arkady Dvorkovich at the opening ceremony of the "Baku Open-2025" International Chess Festival.
The head of FIDE greeted the participants of the event:
"This is not my first visit to Baku. I am grateful for the hospitality. I am proud to be here."
It should be reminded that the prize fund of the festival is 55 thousand US dollars. More than 700 chess players from 16 countries participate in the competition. The tournament also hosts the Azerbaijani championship among veteran chess players.
The festival is also part of the "Chess Tour Azerbaijan" project.
