The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has expressed condolences on the death of Gasim Hashimov, the father of the late grandmaster Vugar Hashimov.
"Report" reports that the FIDE press service has released information about this.
"Gasim Hashimov, Honored Chess Coach of Azerbaijan, father of the late chess player Vugar Hashimov, has sadly passed away. He also served as the head of the Organizing Committee of the Vugar Hashimov Memorial. We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones," the statement said.
It should be noted that Gasim Hashimov was injured in an explosion in a private house in the village of Novkhani, Absheron region. He died on January 8 in the hospital where he was being treated.
