FIDE has banned Latvian chess player Andrey Strebkovs for 12 years.
"Report" reports, citing the organization's press service, that the reason for this was the 43-year-old chess player sending offensive and inappropriate materials, including unethical photos, to his female colleagues, including minors.
Earlier, the Appeals Chamber of the Ethics and Disciplinary Commission of the organization found A. Strebkovs guilty of several violations of the FIDE Code of Ethics and Discipline and announced a five-year ban from all FIDE-rated events. However, after the chess player's objection and appeal, the matter was thoroughly investigated, and the Appeals Chamber confirmed the evidence presented, including the results of DNA analysis and police investigation.
As a result, the chess player's ban was extended to 12 years, and his grandmaster title was revoked, based on the severity and nature of his actions.
