The leader of the Azerbaijani badminton national team, a participant in the Tokyo and Paris Olympics, won a victory in the men's individual competition over Japanese badminton player Koki Watanabe, who is 19th in the world ranking - 2:0 (21:19, 21:18). Our badminton player will face Indonesian representative Jonathan Christie in the 1/16 finals.
Another badminton player, Diki Pangestu, lost to Croatian representative Aria Dinata with a score of 1:2 (16:21, 21:16, 14:21).
In the men's doubles competition, the Agil Gabilov-Diki Pangestu tandem lost in the first match to the Singaporean athletes Junsuke Kubo-Wesley Koh pair with a score of 0:2 (9:21, 13:21).
In the women's individual competition, Keisha Fatima Zahra will face Brazilian Juliana Vieira in the 1/32 finals.
