Lent.az reports with reference to foreign media that on January 8, the coach of the French national team should officially announce his departure after the 2026 World Cup.
56-year-old Didier Deschamps has led the French national team for the past 13 years. Under his leadership, the "Tricolores" won the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 Nations League.
Deschamps' team was also a silver medalist at the 2016 European Championship and the last World Cup held in Qatar.
In the summer of 2024, Didier Deschamps reached the "100 victories" mark after 154 games as the head coach of the French national team.
At the 2024 European Championship in Germany, the French team, the future champion, stopped fighting in the semi-finals, losing to Spain (1:2).
In 2026, the FIFA World Cup will be held in three countries: the USA, Canada and Mexico.
