Idman.Biz reports that these words were said by Milli Mejlis deputy Mushvig Jafarov in a statement to journalists after the official presentation ceremony dedicated to the announcement of Baku as the "World Capital of Sports".
He stated that he believes 2026 will be successful for Azerbaijani sports: "The delegation of the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES) highly appreciated the sports infrastructure in Baku. It was after this that Baku was named the "World Capital of Sports" for 2026. I think that the organization of international events will increase interest in sports among people."
