Azerbaijani Davin Jafarov finished 8th in the 24th World Karting Championship (World Grand Final) race held at the "International South Garda" track in Lonato, Italy.
According to "Report", he competed for the first time in the BMB category and the world championship as part of the "Birel Art" Portugal team.
Forced to start from 32nd place due to a minor accident in the qualifying stage, Jafarov advanced to the semi-final and final stages. In the final, he made 24 overtakes, breaking the 14-overtake record of Italian pilot Lorenzo Pignanelli, and also set the fastest lap of the race.
This result caused great interest among commentators and race participants. Davin Jafarov eventually finished 8th.
The track length was 1200 meters in the races organized in five categories. The tournament, held since 2001, is considered one of the most prestigious events in the karting world.
607 pilots from different countries of the world participated in the race, which also included European and world champions.
After the race, several international team pilots and leaders approached the BirelArt Portugal tent to meet Davin and wish him success in his future career. Among them was the leadership of AW Racing, based in Milan, Italy. The team offered Davin to join their ranks. However, the young pilot preferred to continue competing with the BirelArt team for now.
Davin has two more international races to look forward to by the end of the year.
