A cycling competition among schoolchildren of Baku was held with the joint organization of the Baku City Youth and Sports Department and the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation.

22 school teams, each consisting of 2 girls and 2 boys cyclists, participated in the 2-day competition.
After the qualifying stage held on the first day of the competition, the 8 teams with the best time indicators were determined. The competition ended the next day with the 1/4, semi-final and final stages.
Students of secondary school No. 236 of Sabail district became champions by defeating their rivals from secondary school No. 85 of the same district in the final. Students of secondary school No. 186 of Pirallahi district were awarded the third place.
The distinguished teams were awarded medals, diplomas and cash prizes. In addition, all members of the champion team were presented with bicycles by the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation.
Fikret Huseynov, Executive Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, said in an interview with media representatives that the main purpose of holding the competition is to arouse interest in cycling among teenagers and young people, to identify talented people among them and to involve them in professional sports.
