"The recent increase in cases of sudden cardiac death and heart attack in gyms has caused serious public concern. Several factors underlie the issue. First, underlying cardiovascular diseases are a major cause of these cases."
Idman.biz reports that this was written by Rashad Mahmudov, a member of the Milli Majlis and a well-known cardiovascular surgeon, on his social network account.
He noted that sometimes congenital heart defects or rhythm disorders exist even in young people with no complaints: "During heavy physical exertion, these hidden problems increase the risk of sudden death. In older age groups, risk factors such as vascular occlusion, high blood pressure, and diabetes come to the fore."
The second important factor is energy drinks and sports supplements. These products contain high amounts of caffeine, taurine, and stimulant substances. Their use accelerates heartbeats, raises blood pressure, and creates a basis for arrhythmias. When taken with heavy exercise, these drinks increase the risk of sudden heart attack and cardiac arrest.
The third important factor is a sudden change in lifestyle. Suddenly starting intensive sports for people who have been living a passive life for a long time, moving little, or having harmful habits can sometimes lead to tragic consequences. The body is faced with a load it is not used to, and existing but quiet atherosclerotic deposits in the vessels can break off and cause vascular occlusion. This increases the risk of sudden heart attack or death."
It should be noted that today, Honored Artist Jabir Imanov passed away in one of the gyms located in Sabail district.
