Azerbaijani badminton players in the lower age groups increased the number of gold medals compared to last year at the "Batumi Cup" international tournament held in Georgia.
Elchin Mehdiyev, coach of the national team for children and adolescents, said this in an interview with "Report".
He evaluated the performance of the athletes in the competition held in Georgia:
"We participated in this tournament last year as well and returned with high results. This year was more successful for us and we were able to increase the number of our gold medals. Let me remind you that we participated in the tournament with 5 athletes in the U-11, U-13 and U-15 age categories. We returned with 7 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medal. I would like to thank our coaches, starting with the federation management, who put in the effort, for their great support in this tournament. This gave our team very good motivation. I believe that we will raise our country's flag high in the future as well."
The specialist spoke about the importance of participating in competitions:
"In recent years, we have been constantly participating in international tournaments among children and adolescents. This, of course, greatly helps children from now on in terms of international experience and outlook. Constant participation in international tournaments also leads to the improvement of our results."
It should be noted that child and adolescent badminton players won a total of 11 medals in the international competition in question.
