The first jersey worn by Kobe Bryant, the former "Los Angeles Lakers" player representing the National Basketball Association (NBA), who died in a helicopter crash in 2020 along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, has been sold for a record price.
"Report", citing "Reuters", reports that the jersey, put up for sale by the "Sotheby's" auction house, was purchased for $7 million.
K. Bryant wore this jersey in the 1996/1997 season, in his first game at the age of 18. The basketball player was on the court for only 6 minutes in the first match and did not score any points.
It should be noted that this is the fourth most expensive sports garment sold after the jerseys of former baseball player Babe Ruth, basketball player Michael Jordan, and legendary Argentine football player Diego Maradona.
