Azerbaijani wrestlers won 5 medals on the first day of the Zagreb Open, the first ranking tournament of the year held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia.
"Report" reports that our national freestyle wrestling team won 1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals on the first day of the competition.
Kanan Heybatov, competing in the 70 kg weight category, won the gold medal.
Islam Bazarqanov (57 kg) and Arseniy Djioyev (86 kg) won silver medals, while Nureddin Novruzov (61 kg) and Ali Rahimzade (65 kg) settled for bronze medals.
Today, Elnura Mammadova (55 kg), Abubakr Abakarov and Osman Nurmagomedov (both 92 kg) will join the competition.
The Zagreb Open will last from February 5 to 9. A total of 26 members of all 3 of our national teams will compete in the tournament.
