Azerbaijani sumo wrestler Huseyn Aghayev competed in the "Hakuho Cup" tournament held in Tokyo on February 7-8.
Idman.Biz reports that this competition is of historical significance for Azerbaijani sumo. For the first time, our athlete tested his strength in this prestigious tournament.
A total of 361 sumo wrestlers competed for medals in the weight category in which Huseyn competed. The Azerbaijani representative won brilliant victories in the first three matches. Two of the opponents were Japanese, and one was a Brazilian athlete.
He lost to his Japanese opponent in the fourth match and said goodbye to the tournament.
Nevertheless, participation in the prestigious competition and the demonstrated determination are considered an important achievement for Huseyn Aghayev in the name of Azerbaijani sumo.
