Azerbaijani Olympic champion Hidayat Heydarov and head coach of the national judo team Richard Trautmann have been awarded in Montenegro.
"Report" reports with reference to the press service of the Judo Federation that Hidayat Heydarov was named the best male judoka of 2024.
The award was presented to him by the President of the European Judo Union (EJU), Laszlo Tot.
The official website of the EJU writes about this:
"This athlete made a name for himself by winning European and world champion titles in his teens and youth. Over time, he showed determination to realize his potential. In 2024, he became the European champion for the fourth time, followed by world and Olympic titles. It is rare to achieve such great success in one year. The owner of this magnificent achievement is Azerbaijani representative Hidayat Heydarov."
The best male coach of the year in Europe was Richard Trautmann, head coach and performance director of the Azerbaijani national team. The award was presented to him by Agron Kuka, sports director of the European Judo Union.
The EJU website notes the following about Trautmann:
"In 2024, this coach brought two European, two world and two Olympic titles, which is a great achievement for any nation. The leader of the Azerbaijani team can be proud of both the magnificent achievements of the athletes he leads and his personal successes in the Olympic year."
It should be noted that at an event held in Paris in February of this year, both Hidayat Heydarov and Richard Trautmann were also selected as the best in the world.
