The "Marmara Cup" international karate tournament was held in Turkey.
Idman.biz reports that the Azerbaijani national team won 12 medals in the competition.
Our karate fighters Farid Savadov (60 kg), Nuran Rzazade (67 kg), Rashid Suleymanov (75 kg) and Asiman Gurbanli (+84 kg) defeated all their opponents and climbed to the highest step of the podium. Madina Sadigova (55 kg), Fariz Shahbazov (60 kg) and Huseyn Mammadli (67 kg), who lost only in the final, won silver medals. Fatima Jabrayilova (50 kg), Nazrin Piriyeva (55 kg), Turgut Hasanov, Farid Shahbazli (both 84 kg) and Vahid Hasanov (+84) took 3rd place.
Our team took first place in the team standings (among children, adolescents, youth and adults) with 5 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze medals.
It should be noted that about 2000 karate fighters from 28 countries tested their strength in the international tournament. Our karate fighters have also started training for the CIS Games.
