Azerbaijani judoka Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg), who won a bronze medal at the European Championship held in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, wants to perform successfully at the World Championship as well.
The 25-year-old athlete stated this in an interview with "Report".
He shared his impressions of the competition in Podgorica:
"The atmosphere of the tournament was very good. The team has a good mood. The support of the coaches, medical staff, and teammates helped me a lot. I found out that I was going to the competition at the last moment. I wanted to enjoy the tournament. I thought I had nothing to lose. This freed me from stress and gave me peace of mind."
The judoka, who went to Montenegro instead of Hidayat Heydarov, emphasized that he also wants to compete in the World Championship:
"I expect to have a chance at the World Cup in June as well. If I don't believe in myself, I won't continue this work."
It should be noted that Rashid Mammadaliyev participated in the European Championship instead of Olympic champion Hidayat Heydarov, who was removed from the national team due to illness.
