Azerbaijani fencers participated in the World Championships for juniors and youth held in Wuxi, China.
According to "Report", the saber team consisting of Said Aliyev, Vahab Fatullayev, Mirkhatay Mammadov, and Emin Safarbayov won the first match against Belgium with a score of 45:37.
In the match held to advance to the strongest "Top 16", they lost to Germany with a score of 26:45. The team finished 31st in the overall standings.
The team consisting of Aynur Guliyeva, Khadija Hasanli, Nazrin Mehdiyeva, and Nazila Rahimova took 14th place in the team competition of epee fencers.
Having defeated the Japanese team with a score of 34:33, the epee fencers lost to China with a score of 38:45 in the match held to advance to the strongest "Top Eight". In the matches for 9-16 places, the team lost to Estonia with a score of 31:45. Having defeated Egyptian epee fencers with a score of 45:44, the team lost to their Spanish rivals with a score of 27:45 in the last match.
