The Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation has reacted to the failure of Russian athlete Veronika Zhilina's transfer to the Azerbaijani national team.
The organization responded to the inquiry of "Report" regarding this matter.
"As the Azerbaijan Winter Sports Federation, we would like to express our regret that the International Skating Union (ISU) made such a decision. We would like to emphasize that Veronika Zhilina also expressed her interest in representing our country in international competitions in her application. As the Winter Sports Federation, as a continuation of the processes, we plan to re-apply to the International Skating Union in the next season for Veronika Zhilina to represent Azerbaijan," the federation said.
It should be noted that according to the decision of the ISU Council, the transfer of the figure skater to the Azerbaijani national team did not take place. Veronika Zhilina is 17 years old. In May, she wrote on her social media account that she had received an Azerbaijani passport.
