The Secretary-General of the Azerbaijan Water Sports Federation, Farhad Aliyev, stated that he had no information about the merging of sailing sports into the federation.
In a statement to Idman.Biz, he noted that the reorganized structure of the water sports federation was previously called the Canoe and Rowing Federation, and they have not received any requests regarding sailing sports recently.
"This information is not true. After the spread of this news, I contacted a representative of the Azerbaijan Sailing Federation, and they said they were unaware of such a thing. Our federation has the right to support the development of sailing sports, but they have not received any requests in this direction," emphasized Farhad Aliyev.
The Secretary-General added that Azerbaijani sailors will participate in international competitions in the coming days, and this will not be under the name of the water sports federation:
"They have their own schedule and have no connection with our federation."
