Triathlete Vladimir Porfirov, representing Naro-Fominsk, has passed away. The tragedy occurred during the swimming portion of the race - a 1-mile swim. The athlete lost consciousness in the water and began to drown. A nearby rescuer immediately noticed the incident and pulled him out of the water, bringing him to the medical station.
Despite lengthy resuscitation efforts, it was not possible to save the athlete. The exact cause of death of the experienced swimmer, who had participated in competitions for over 10 years, has not yet been reported.
