Former USSR hockey team goalkeeper Artur Irbe has announced his readiness to return the gold medals of the world championship he won during the USSR era.
Idman.Biz reports that the former goalkeeper's views were published by "Iltalehti".
"I am ready to officially hand them over when we meet at the World Cup next time. I don't need them. I don't wear them with pride," Artur Irbe emphasized.
Earlier, Artur Irbe stated that the Russian national team should not miss the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy. Currently, the former hockey player works as a goalkeeping coach in the Latvian national team.
It should be noted that the Russian national team has been suspended from international tournaments since 2022.
