Another judoka of ours won a bronze medal at the European Championship

The European Judo Championship continues in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro.

GOL.az reports that five more judokas from Azerbaijan joined the competition today.

Zelim Tckaev (81 kg) wrestled with Aurelien Bonferroni (Switzerland) in the 1/16 final. Our judoka, who won, then won duels with Dorin Gotonoaga (Moldova) and Antonio Esposito (Italy). He failed to cope with Tato Grigalashvili (Georgia) in the semi-finals. Tckaev faced Petru Pelivan (Moldova) for the bronze medal.

Our athlete won the bronze medal by defeating his opponent. This is the third success for our country in the championship. 

Omar Rajabli (81 kg)  defeated Eetu Ihanamaki (Finland) in the 1/16 final. 

Murad Fatiyev (90 kg) faced Alexander Sidorik (IJF) in the 1/16 final and won a convincing victory. The national team member clarified his relationship with Islam Sogenov (Serbia) in the 1/8 final. Fatiyev, who defeated his opponent, also surpassed Luka Maisuradze (Georgia) in the next match. He could not continue his successful streak in the semi-final match with Kristian Parlati (Italy). The defeated judoka will compete with Alexis Mathieu (France) for the bronze medal.

In the women's competition, Gunel Hasanli (70 kg) lost to Anna Oleynik-Kornienko (Ukraine) in the 1/32 final, and Sudaba Aghayeva (70 kg) lost to Adelina Novitsky (Israel).

It should be noted that Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg) and Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg) have already won bronze medals in the competition. The European Championship will end on April 27.

In addition, the Azerbaijani national team is competing in the European Championship both with individual athletes and in teams. Our country is represented by 15 judokas in 12 weight categories, with a total of 9 men and 6 women. The team will also compete in the mixed team competition.
