The Azerbaijan Handball Federation (AHF) has commented on reports of possible changes in leadership.
Idman.Biz reports that Saleh Mammadov has been the President of the Azerbaijan Handball Federation for almost ten years. He was elected to head the organization on December 1, 2016, and has been leading the development of this sport in the country ever since.
Recently, there have been rumors against the background of personnel changes in the public sector. In February of this year, Saleh Mammadov was dismissed from the post of Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Automobile Roads State Agency. After that, discussions began in the sports community that he might also leave his post at the AHF.
The Federation, however, states that these claims are unfounded.
Idman.Biz contacted the organization's press service to clarify the current situation.
"The dismissal of Saleh Mammadov from his state position has not affected the activities of the federation in any way. He continues to serve as the President of the AHF, and there are currently no changes in leadership. All internal tournaments are held according to plan. The national championships among men and women are currently in an active phase, and the preparation of national teams for competitions will resume in September," the federation said.
