Baku is an important city in the world not only in the field of sports, but in general, in all fields.
İdman.Biz reports that this was stated by the President of the European Federation of Sports Capitals and Cities (ACES Europe), Gian Francesco Lupatelli, at the official presentation ceremony dedicated to the declaration of Baku as the "World Capital of Sports".
He emphasized that Baku is an ideal city to host major sporting events:
"We know that Baku is a very important city in the world not only in terms of sports, but in every field. The previous capital of world sports was Monaco. Today, with great joy, we officially present the title of 'World Capital of Sports' to Baku. We believe that Baku will duly fulfill this task," said Gian Francesco Lupatelli.
It should be noted that the European Federation of Sports Capitals and Cities has chosen Baku as the world's "Sports Capital" for 2026.
