Taking second place in the European Championship is a great event for Azerbaijani billiards.
This was stated by the President of the Azerbaijan Billiards Federation (ABF) Seymur Mammadov in an interview with "Report" while talking about winning a silver medal at the European Championship.
He shared his impressions of the competition held in Batumi, Georgia:
"There were many participants in the tournament. Imagine, 115 billiards players from 16 countries were fighting for victory. Moreover, time was limited. In such a situation, taking second place is a great achievement for Azerbaijani billiards. True, it was possible to win a gold medal as well. But, unfortunately, it did not happen."
The head of the ABF said that they have new plans for Azerbaijani billiards:
"We have some plans. Academies are already opening in Azerbaijan. We want new, young and promising players to emerge in billiards. We need new breath, new blood. If this happens, more of our representatives will take part in international competitions."
S. Mammadov said that they want to organize a world championship in Baku:
"Our plans are big. We want to organize the world billiards championship in Baku. But there are some points that we are working on. We are constantly working in this direction."
