The "Tour d'Azerbaidjan" cycling race, scheduled for 2026, will be more comprehensive than similar tournaments held in previous years.
This was stated by Sahib Alakbarov, 1st Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, in an interview with "Report".
He shared his thoughts on the competition:
"It will be more comprehensive than in previous years. An official application has already been sent to the International Cycling Union for the inclusion of the five-stage tournament in the calendar plan for 2026. We expect it to be accepted. The "Tour d'Azerbaidjan" race is planned to pass through the territory of 20 cities and regions. We will start from Baku first. Cyclists will also pass through the liberated territories, including Khankendi. Our finish line in the last stage will be in Shusha".
It should be noted that in the "Tour d'Azerbaidjan", which is planned to be held in 2026, the first stage will be Baku-Sumgayit, the second stage will be Baku-Shamakhi-Ismayilli, the third stage will be Gabala-Oguz-Sheki-Oguz-Gabala, the fourth stage will be Gabala-Agdash-Mingachevir-Ganja, and the fifth stage will be Ganja-Tartar-Khankendi-Shusha route. The mentioned cycling competition was previously organized 5 times between 2013-2017.
