The "Judo in Schools" project has been launched in Baku with the joint organization of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (ACF) and the State Agency for Preschool and General Education under the Ministry of Science and Education (MUSA). Sport24.az reports that the opening ceremony of the project was held at secondary school No. 250 in Nizami district of Baku.
Rashad Rasul, Executive Vice-President of ACF, Tarlan Hasanov, Honored Coach, Vafa Huseynzade, leading advisor of the Department of Child Development and Welfare of MUSA, and Sevda Ramazanova, specialist of the Sector for the Organization of Extracurricular Activities of the Baku City Education Department, spoke at the event.
The speeches emphasized the goals of the project, the implementation mechanism, and the benefits it will create for schoolchildren.
In the classes held within the framework of physical education lessons, students of grades IV, V and VI will learn the basics of judo.
The lessons are conducted by experienced coaches of the ACF with international certificates. During the classes, schoolchildren will be taught the basic rules of judo, safe falling techniques (ukemi), initial movement skills, and the ability to work with a partner. At the same time, the basic values of judo - respect, discipline and responsibility - will be promoted through age-appropriate exercises and games rich in judo elements.
At the end of the lessons, children and parents will be informed about nearby judo clubs, the opportunity to participate in trial lessons, and simple joining options will be presented.
The aim of the project is to increase safety in daily life (reducing the risk of injury from falls and slips), develop social skills, generate interest in judo in children from an early age, and increase the popularity of judo.
