The "Judo in Schools" project has been launched jointly by the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (ACF) and the State Agency for Preschool and General Education (MÜTDA) under the Ministry of Science and Education.
İdman.Biz reports that the Azerbaijan Judo Federation has released information about this.
It was reported that the opening ceremony of the project was held at secondary school No. 250 in Nizami district of Baku.
The event was addressed by Rashad Rasulllu, Executive Vice-President of ACF, Tarlan Hasanov, Honored Coach, Vafa Huseynzade, leading advisor of the Child Development and Welfare Department of MÜTDA, and Sevda Ramazanova, specialist of the Out-of-School Activities Organization Sector of the Baku City Education Department.
The goals, implementation mechanism and benefits for schoolchildren were emphasized in the speeches.
In the classes held within the framework of physical education lessons, fourth, fifth and sixth grade students will learn the basics of judo.
The lessons are conducted by experienced coaches of the ACF with international certificates. During the sessions, schoolchildren will be taught the basic rules of judo, safe falling techniques (ukemi), initial movement habits and teamwork skills. At the same time, basic values of judo - such as respect, discipline and responsibility - will be promoted through exercises appropriate to age characteristics and games rich in judo elements.
At the end of the lessons, children and parents will be informed about nearby judo clubs, offered the opportunity to participate in trial lessons and simple registration options.
The aim of the project is to increase safety in daily life (reducing the risk of injury during falls and slips), develop social skills, form children's interest in judo from an early age, and increase the mass character of judo.
