Azerbaijani judokas Tuncay Shamil and Aslan Kotsoev were disqualified from the competition due to disciplinary reasons

An incident occurred between national team members Tuncay Shamil and Aslan Kotsoev on the eve of the national youth judo team's trip to the Republic of North Macedonia to participate in the European Cup.

Idman.biz reports with reference to the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (ACF) that, as a result, both athletes were disqualified from the competition and the matter was investigated by the federation's Disciplinary Committee.

The committee held meetings with the athletes, reviewed their written explanations and available facts (audio recordings). At the same time, the athletes' past behavior and penalties received, as well as the proposals of the national team leadership, were evaluated.

The Committee decided to remove Tuncay Shamil indefinitely from the Azerbaijan National Team due to actions that contradict the International Judo Federation's Code of Ethics, the Azerbaijan Judo Federation's Code of Ethics, and judo values in general, and to prohibit him from participating in international competitions and training camps as part of the national team.

It should be noted that Tuncay Shamil has repeatedly violated internal rules and has been removed from international and local competitions before.
An athlete's morality, patience and discipline are of great importance, and sports potential is formed on top of these values. ACF emphasized that it will continue to adhere to its basic principles and the judo code of honor in the future.
