The European Junior Judo Cup held in Graz, Austria, has concluded. Sport24.az reports that the Azerbaijani national team won 4 more medals on the final day of the competition.
Suleyman Shukurov, competing in the -90 kg weight category, won the gold medal by defeating all his opponents.
On the way to the final, our judoka defeated representatives of Romania, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Hungary, and Germany.
In the decisive match, Suleyman defeated Brazilian athlete Joao Pedro Canelyo with a yuko score and became the champion. Roman Garayev (-81 kg), Aslan Kotsoyev (-90 kg), and Ramazan Ahmadov (+100 kg) finished the tournament with bronze medals.
On the first day of the competition, Muhammad Musayev (-66 kg) won a gold medal. Thus, the Azerbaijani national team, which completed the European Cup with 2 gold and 3 bronze medals, took second place in the boys' competition among 34 countries, and third place in the overall medal standings.
