"I was sure that we would win against Hungary in the final. But I didn't expect the score to be like this." These words were spoken by Davud Karimi, the former goalkeeper of the Azerbaijan mini-football team, in his statement to Sport24.az, while talking about the national team that won the world championship held in Baku.
Karimi commented on the historic success as follows:
"We lost to Hungary in the previous championship. This time we took revenge on them. The organization was at a high level. I think FIFA should now see this kind of organization and accept Mini-football. This victory is an important stage in the development of Azerbaijani mini-football and a new addition to our country's sports achievements. As for our national team, we drew with Bahrain in the first match. But I said that the first matches in such a tournament are exciting. I wouldn't want to single out anyone in particular in the team. All the players who were given a chance by Elshad Guliyev fought to the end on the field. Seeing a fighting team makes one very happy. One should only be proud of them. This sport is developing in our country year by year."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team won the world championship by defeating Hungary 4:2 in the final.
