"Araz-Nakhchivan" will enter the final match of the Azerbaijan Futsal Cup without a head coach and legionnaires.
This was announced to "Report" by the vice-president of the Nakhchivan club, Mahmud Sadigov.
He said that head coach Yevgeni Kuksevich, who went on vacation due to the expiration of his contract, and foreign futsal players will not be at the decisive meeting:
"A new contract with the coach will come into force in August. After his contract expires in June, he will take a month's vacation. For this reason, the team will enter the cup final without a head coach. Foreign players have also left the team due to the expiration of their contracts. If they were to play, they would ask for additional funds, or rather, a month's salary. Since this was not in line with our budget, we could not agree. Currently, only local players remain. That is, we will play with locals in the final match of the cup and try to win."
The club official also evaluated the season:
"We faced many difficulties until December. Both in terms of the coach and the players. We lost to our main rivals. Also, in December, we drew and lost points in the match with "Baku Fire". This put us 6 points behind. Since we were in a difficult situation, we had to make radical changes. We did it. We invited our current head coach Yevgeni Kuksevich at the end of December and introduced him to the atmosphere of the championship. Then we shook hands and signed a contract. We also transferred several players and strengthened the team. This also had its effect. The head coach understood the task set before him. I thank him for taking the team out of a difficult situation and making them champions. This is not only the coach's factor, but also the great contribution of the club's executives and medical staff. We united like a fist and were able to cope with the task."
M.Sadigov also revealed the goals set for the head coach for the new season:
"The goal we set for the coach is, of course, first of all to win the Azerbaijan championship, and also to show successful results in the international arena. We will participate in the preliminary stage of the UEFA Champions League in August. After the draw, our opponents will be determined. A preparation program will be developed accordingly. Of course, there will be changes. Because the team must be strengthened to achieve success in Europe. We plan to pass the first stage."
It should be noted that the Nakhchivan representative became the winner of the Azerbaijan Premier League 2024/2025 season. The club has signed a new 1-year contract with Russian head coach Yevgeni Kuksevich today.
"Araz-Nakhchivan" will face the PFL team in the final of the Azerbaijan Cup. The meeting will be held on June 5 at 14:00 at "Olympic Star".
