After the match between "Kapaz" and "Neftchi" (1:3) in the XX round of the Misli Premier League, the head coach of the visiting team, Yuri Vernidub, answered journalists' questions. Sport24.az reports that the specialist said the following at the meeting with media representatives:
– Bassalu Sambu, who can be considered the hero of the game, is the leader in the list of bombardiers. He played less after Abubakar came, but he performs better in your era. What did you "feed and drink" him?
– I congratulate the fans on the victory. A few days ago, "Forza Neftchi" had a birthday. I was sick at that time and could not attend their event. I apologize to them for this. Let me say that it is mainly their support that we achieve such results today. As for Sambu and Abubakar, both are good strikers. They are players who play in different plans. As a coach, it is difficult for me to choose. I am satisfied with both of them. I am glad that they score goals. What I see is that they have also changed themselves, they work hard, they play for the team. If they continue like this, they will be even better.
– The team is in good shape. No one wants to lose form in such a period. The game with "Qarabag" has been postponed and there will be a two-week break. How do you plan to keep the team in tone during this period?
– There will be a two-day rest. I asked the management to organize a test match. If not, we will play among ourselves so that the team does not lose rhythm.
– Are players rewarded after consecutive victories?
– The greatest reward for them is victory. We worked today and won three points. I am in constant contact with the players, the relations are good. We will work harder.
– Players who were in reserve before you now have more chances. Have you not yet formed the optimal squad, or is this your principle?
– Excluding the goalkeepers, we have 23 players. Each of them is very good in training. I understand that not everyone can play at the same time. Every player deserves to play. They participate well in training during the week. I create conditions for them all to be in the games as well. If football players only perform in training and do not play, there will be different results. A player who has not played for a long time loses his rhythm. That's why we always give everyone a chance to replace each other. We don't have star players, we have a team, a family. When there are "stars", it is difficult to manage them.
– In your statement to the Ukrainian press, you stated that "Qarabag" and "Neftchi" are like "Dynamo" and "Shakhtar" of Ukraine. What is your personal opinion on the postponement of the game with "Qarabag" now? How will the postponement of the game affect the team?
– Let's close this conversation. We met with the management and decided to support. "Qarabag" represents Azerbaijan in Europe. The postponement may not be good for us, we are losing rhythm. But I hope everything will be fine. Let me also say that I wish "Qarabag" victory in the game with "Newcastle". This is for the benefit of all Azerbaijan.
– You have won the third consecutive victory. What can you say to the fans about the near future?
– We have good relations with the fans. I want them to always be with us. This is necessary for both "Neftchi" and the fans. I am proud of our fans. I am glad that we have such an army of fans.
