Yordi, the son of Johan Cruyff, the living legend of Dutch football, may soon participate in the Champions League match between "Qarabag" and "Ajax" in Baku.
According to Idman.Biz, referring to "De Telegraaf", Yordi Cruyff is one of the main candidates for the position of sports director at "Ajax", where he will replace Alex Kroes.
Currently, Cruyff works as a technical advisor for the Indonesian national team and has experience as a sports director in various clubs, including "Barcelona". This factor puts him in a more advantageous position on the list of potential candidates. If the appointment is formalized, his accompaniment of the team in Champions League away matches, including the match against "Qarabag" in Baku, is not excluded.
The "Ajax" management has already stated openly that a new sports director will be appointed first, and only then will the issue of the head coach be considered together with him. At a meeting with shareholders, the club's CEO, Menno Helen, emphasized that the club is building a long-term management model and does not intend to rush into choosing a head coach until the structure of the sports unit is approved.
Currently, the team is led by Fred Grim, who is acting as head coach. He has been in this position since John Heitinga left. The Dutch media notes that Grim will continue to hold the reins of "Ajax" in the near future. It is reported that he is preparing the team for the crucial Champions League matches, including the match against "Qarabag" in Baku.
It is worth remembering that the match between the clubs from Aghdam and Amsterdam will be held on December 10 in Baku, at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium. After four rounds of the Champions League main stage, "Qarabag" has 7 points and is in 15th place in the tournament table. "Ajax", on the other hand, is in last place - 36th - without any points.
