Former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure has once again made scathing accusations against his former coach Pep Guardiola, calling him a 'malicious person'.
İdman.Biz reports that Yaya Toure, while talking about Guardiola in an interview with the 'Zack' YouTube channel, likened him to a snake.
'I don't see a human, I see a snake. He treated me like dust,' said Toure.
The former Ivory Coast international stated that he felt sidelined, isolated, and humiliated by Guardiola during his time at both Barcelona and Manchester City. According to him, after shining at the 2010 World Cup, he returned to Barcelona, but in his last season, he only appeared in 9 games in the main squad, with Guardiola preferring Sergio Busquets over him at that time.
Yaya Toure also recalled a moment when the coach wanted to work with him again:
'Guardiola called me and said you have to come back, it's important. And my wife said: 'He used you like a rag, why do you want to stay now? Let's go to Manchester City.' She always considered Guardiola a negative person'.
Although the African footballer became one of Manchester City's legends from 2010-2018, he stated that after Guardiola was appointed as the team's coach in 2016, he was once again placed among the substitutes. His agent at the time, Dimitri Seluk, also stated in an interview with the BBC that Guardiola 'only thinks about himself, he already thinks he is God'.
Yaya Toure left Manchester City in 2018 and moved to Olympiacos. In a statement he made that year, he also said the following about Guardiola:
'I want the Guardiola myth to be destroyed. He did everything to ruin my last season. My stats were good, but I wasn't played. I realized that this was not due to physical reasons'.
Finally, the former footballer emphasized that he did not rule out that what happened to him could be related to the color of his skin and claimed that Guardiola treated him like a rival.
