It is very gratifying that our country has nominated a joint bid with Uzbekistan to host the World Championship. This step will give impetus to the development of our football and have a positive impact on our international image.
Idman.biz reports that these words were said by Vagif Sadigov, Chairman of the AFFA Coaches Committee, in his statement to AZERTAC, while talking about Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan's joint bid to host the 2027 World Championship among football players under 20.
He said that there is a lot of work to be done in this way: "We must be ready in terms of infrastructure to organize the competition at a high level. Of course, after the candidacy is positively received by FIFA, our state will implement certain reforms and all necessary measures will be taken. This will take some time. Azerbaijan has previously hosted international competitions such as the U-17 Women's World Championship, the Islamic Solidarity Games and Euro 2020. That is, our experience in this regard is not small at all. The stadiums in Baku meet international standards. Most importantly, we must prove that we deserve to host this tournament by raising the level of our football".
The expert stated that if the tournament is held in our country, reconstruction works should be carried out in the stadiums in the regions: "Of course, there is a possibility that the games will be organized not only in the capital, but also in our regions. For this, it is necessary to have stadiums that meet modern requirements. In general, holding some of the matches in the regions would be very good for our football. Motivation will be created in the young people living there, and love for football will increase not only in Baku, but also in different parts of the country."
According to V. Sadigov, cooperation with a country like Uzbekistan, which has made significant progress in football, will also bring a lot to this sport in Azerbaijan: "This project can make a serious contribution to our football in terms of strategy and structure. Uzbekistan has made significant progress at the national team level, especially in recent years. AFFA can benefit from their strategy."
