For the first time in 20 years, none of the Ukrainian representatives will play in the main stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Idman.biz reports that Kyiv "Dynamo" lost to Cyprus "Pafos" team with a score of 0:2 (0:1 in the first match) in the return match of the third qualifying round and stopped the fight in the continent's most prestigious club tournament in the 2025/26 season.
This happened for the last time in the 2005/06 season. At that time, none of the Ukrainian clubs was able to qualify for the Champions League group stage. At that time, Kyiv "Dynamo" lost to Switzerland "Thun" (2:2, 0:1), and "Shakhtar" lost to Italian "Inter" (0:2, 1:1).
It should be noted that currently only one Ukrainian club - the country's champion - gets the right to play in the Champions League qualifying stage. "Shakhtar", which was 3rd in Ukraine last season, started the fight from the Europa League qualifying stage.
