UEFA has punished Atletico Madrid because their fans chanted some unpleasant slogans during the match against Arsenal in the fifth round of the Champions League. Sport24.az reports with reference to "AS" that the decision was made by the organization's Control, Disciplinary and Ethics Committee.
According to the source, the club's fans have been accused of racist discrimination. Atletico has been fined 30,000 euros and given a conditional ban on the sale of away tickets for one Champions League match. The penalty will be valid for one year. If similar incidents are repeated, the sanction will be applied automatically. The club has also been fined 10,000 euros for fans throwing foreign objects onto the field.
It should be noted that despite the penalties, the fans of the Madrid club will be able to support their team in away matches against PSV on December 9 and Galatasaray on December 21. However, any violation will result in the full application of the sanction.
