"Our goal this year is to stay in the First League, strengthen our position, and avoid relegation to the Second League."
This was stated by Tural Jalilov, the captain of "Shimal," who plays in the First League, in an interview with futbolinfo.az.
We present the interview:
– You have already played two games in the First League, and the team has 1 point in its assets. How would you comment on the defeat to "Shafa" (0:2) and the draw with MOIK (1:1)?
– In the first round, we faced "Shafa," the situation of this team is known to everyone. They have a very large squad, they are playing for the championship. For this reason, it is very difficult to play against them. In the second round, we faced another team with championship goals – MOIK. They also have good squads, quality players. We don't have a large squad, we are fighting with 13-14 people.
– What is "Shimal"'s goal in the First League? Is the main goal in the first season to maintain your place in the league, or do you think you will be more ambitious?
– Our goal this year is to stay in the First League, strengthen our position, and not fall into the Second League. We will fight to the end in every game. On paper, all the teams are considered favorites ahead of us, but we will try to score points by showing a persistent game every time. We continue our training.
– What are your main difficulties as a team?
– We have problems with the field and conditions. We try to endure every difficulty and our fans see a quality, characterful team on the field. Hopefully, our players will not get injured. Indeed, our squad is scarce.
– You will be the guest of "Baku Sporting" on September 25. How do you assess the chances? Will you be able to return from Baku with a good result?
– The game with "Baku Sporting" will also be difficult for us. Every match is difficult. We will try to show a good game, fight, show character. We will do our best for a successful result. Hopefully, it will be good.
– Is the level of the First League very different from the Second League? Is it not difficult for you personally to play in the First League at the age of 39?
– It's true, I'm 39 years old, I'm playing. I am forced to play due to the lack of players. Playing at this age is not easy for me in terms of both strength and energy. Let's just say, I don't play as much as I want, I try to help and support our team in a difficult situation.
