La Liga President Javier Tebas has accused Real Madrid President Florentino Perez of hypocrisy in attempts to punish Barcelona in the "Negreira case". Sport24.az reports, citing Barca Universal:
"The president of Real Madrid said that the 'Negreira case' is the worst thing that has happened in Spanish football to date. This is a lie.
Between 2008 and 2013, there were match-fixing incidents in our country. Teams negotiated to stay in La Liga.
What was Florentino's position then? He turned a blind eye to it. In 2010, a phone conversation with the president of Hercules mentioned match-fixing. Who turned a blind eye? Who didn't support the investigation? Real Madrid.
"As soon as Barcelona announced that they were withdrawing from the Super League project, Real Madrid launched a legal attack."
It should be noted that, according to the results of the investigation, Barcelona transferred approximately 7.2 million euros to the former vice-president of the Referees Committee, Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, for refereeing advice.
