Tarlan Ahmadov: "Qarabağ is not considered the favorite in the final"

"This game will be very different from other Azerbaijan Cup finals."

This was stated to Idman.biz by veteran football player Tarlan Ahmadov.

He shared his thoughts before the final of the Azerbaijan Cup between "Qarabağ" and "Sabah." The expert said that both teams attach great importance to the game: "The chances are always equal in the final match. Although "Qarabağ" is the champion, the cup final is completely different. Although "Sabah" is fifth in the tournament table, it has always been difficult for the representative of Aghdam against them. In this regard, I don't think "Qarabağ" is the favorite. Yes, they are champions and they are trying to make a "golden double". "Sabah" also wants to win the cup for the first time. This suggests that the match will be tense. In my opinion, we will watch a spectacular game."

According to the former captain of the national team, both teams have certain shortcomings: "We saw that "Qarabağ" had problems in the defense line this season, and "Sabah" has extremely big problems in the defense line. Both teams will try to make fewer mistakes in defense in this game. Most likely, "Qarabağ" will not give up its game and will want to possess the ball more. "Sabah" has very good counterattacks. "Qarabağ" surpasses its opponent in midfield. But in defense, both teams perform almost equally. Although it is not possible to say anything specific about the result, I think that the victory will be minimal. "Sabah" is very eager when playing against "Qarabağ"."

The expert also touched upon the importance of the match result for other clubs: "If "Qarabağ" takes the cup, "Turan Tovuz" will rejoice, and "Zira" will go to the European League. If "Sabah" wins, they will go directly themselves. An interesting trend has emerged. It would be a great success for "Turan Tovuz" to go to the European Cup after a long time. These nuances also add a special color to the essence of the final match."

It should be noted that the starting whistle of the "Qarabağ" - "Sabah" match will be sounded today at 19:00. The game will be held at the Sumgayit city stadium named after Mehdi Huseynzade.
