Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min is leaving the club.
Idman.biz reports that the 33-year-old footballer announced this at a press conference in his native South Korea.
Son Heung-min, who has been playing for Tottenham since 2015 and is the team's captain, says: "I want to announce that I have decided to leave the club this summer. I would like to respectfully note that the club also supports me in this decision.
This was the hardest decision of my career. There are many wonderful memories. It was incredibly difficult to make this decision. I need a new environment to continue to develop. I need some change – ten years is a very long time. When I came to North London, I was still a child, I was 23 years old – a very young age. Now I am leaving this club as a grown, proud man.
I want to thank the Tottenham fans for their love. I hope that this is really the right time for such a decision. I hope everyone will understand and respect it.
It's very difficult to say this to my teammates, because you spend more time with them than with your family.
It's been a long time since I made the decision to leave the club. The last few days have been very difficult. It wasn't easy to look energetic from the outside, but I did my best not to hurt my club and teammates. The decision has already been made, but I want to create beautiful memories with the fans in the last two days here."
It should be noted that Son Heung-min scored 173 goals in 454 games for Tottenham in a total of 10 years.
