"The main goal of the Azerbaijani women's national football team is to qualify for the World Championship play-off stage".
This was stated by the team's head coach, Siyasat Asgarov.
The specialist said that the situation of football players playing in foreign clubs is satisfactory.
"We started training on April 7. Most of the players who joined the national team camp are those who play in foreign clubs. Most of the girls are in the starting "11" in their teams, so their game practice and condition are good. We have some players whose league representatives have finished their championship, so there is a slight difference in their preparation. But overall the situation is very good," he said in a statement to report.az.
He emphasized that the away game with Andorra will be difficult:
"We have prepared seriously for both games. Our first match will be away and I think it will be difficult. Andorra drew with group leader Hungary. They will play at home for maximum results. We also know the opponent's strengths and weaknesses, and we have built our training processes accordingly. We aim for the maximum result in the first game".
The head coach of the national team touched upon the preparation schedule:
"We will train until April 14 and I think it is enough time for us. We will try to make the most of it. The second game will be on April 18. There may be some travel fatigue. Because after the first match, we have to return immediately to prepare for the match we will hold at home. There may be some difficulties during the recovery period. In any case, our goal is to be as prepared as possible for both games".
S. Asgarov spoke about the strength of the opponents in the group and the main goal of the national team.
"Hungary has dropped to League C in the last two years. He always played in League A. He is the leader of the group due to the quality of the players in his squad. True, we won at home over North Macedonia, but unfortunately we lost 0:1 to Hungary on the road. Our goal is to show the maximum result, secure high places in the group and qualify for the play-off stage".
It should be noted that in the qualifying round of the 2027 World Cup, the Azerbaijani national team, which is in the 3rd group of League C, will face Andorra on the road on April 14, and in Baku on the 18th.
