"These are the last friendly matches before the WC-2026 qualifying round. The squad and system should already be known." These words were said by Shahin Diniyev in his statement to Sport24.az.
The experienced specialist revealed his expectations from the game of our national team, which will face the Latvian national team on June 7:
"There is no room for experimentation as in previous matches. The next two meetings can also be considered as a presentation of the games to be held in September. Fernando Santos wants to create a new team, a new system. Enough time has been given for this. We will already see the potential of the team in these two matches. The main thing is not the score, but how the team plays football. If we win, psychological self-confidence can be created. Latvia is a suitable opponent for us, while Hungary is relatively stronger. The opponents we will play in the qualifying round are close to Hungary. That system can be tested in the game with them."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team will face Latvia in Riga on June 7, and 3 days later, Hungary in Baku.
