"Expectations from "Sabail" are high because it is a team that dropped from the Premier League to the First League last season."
This was stated by "Shafa" defender Ismayil Zulfuqarli in an interview with sportal.az.
We present that interview.
- "Shafa" is currently the sole leader of the First League. The championship was also interrupted due to national teams. In general, are you satisfied with your performance so far?
- There is great confidence and motivation in our team. We prepare very seriously for all games in order to achieve our goal. We have drawn in some games due to the opponents retreating a lot. But these do not discourage us either. God willing, we will prepare seriously for the upcoming games and do our best.
- "Shafa" continues to be an undefeated team. Considering the opponents and the tense struggle, do you believe you will be undefeated until the end of the season? The team has not lost since the Second League...
- We go to every game to win. We work hard for this too. God willing, we will try to continue this series until the end of the season. But the main thing is to become a champion.
- It is expected that "Sabail" will be the main rival of "Shafa" in the championship fight. What did you think yourself and which team did you see as the main rival in the fight for the championship?
- Expectations from "Sabail" are high because it is a team that dropped from the Premier League to the First League last season. This is still going on. I thought so too. But since the championship is not over yet, I see "Sabail" as our rival as well.
- You played for "Neftchi" and "Turan Tovuz" in the Premier League. You are spending this season in the First League. From a personal career point of view, do you evaluate this as an advancement or a pause in your career?
- I have played more than 100 games in the Premier League and played more than 30 games last season. I just couldn't fully negotiate the terms I wanted with other clubs due to some problems with "Neftchi". I didn't go abroad either due to family matters. I came here because I liked "Shafa"'s plans and strategy for the future and to restore myself again. I think I will make a very good comeback.
- Your next opponent is "Mingachevir". They are also playing for the top places. Will it be possible to win against this team again away? This season you won 3:2 in Mingachevir with a last-minute goal..
- "Mingachevir" is a good and strong team. They also play better at home. Our goal will be to win. We will work for this too. God willing, we will achieve this. Our preparations for the game are continuing.
