Serie A president Ezio Maria Simonelli has confirmed that the Serie A match between "Milan" and "Como" from the 24th round will be held in Australia.
According to Idman.Biz, Simonelli stated that the "Milan" - "Como" match will be held in Perth on February 8, as previously planned.
"I met with (FIFA President) Infantino in Doha and, as always, it was a very cordial conversation. We had a number of doubts regarding some conditions that were put forward and were not necessarily mandatory to fulfill. For example, the request to entrust the match to referees from the Asian Federation, despite our trust in Italian referees.
However, (FIFA Referees Committee Chairman) Pierluigi Collina reassured us about the quality of the Asian referees and named a few professionals who could handle the match. Accepting this idea was the most difficult and the biggest obstacle. But thanks to Collina's arguments, we reached an agreement on everything," Simonelli said in an interview with Sport Mediaset.
